Cultural Consultant
Flagbearer Games is looking for looking for a cultural consultant to help produce a historically based TTRPG story covering the Haudenosaunee conflict in the Mohawk River Valley and the Oneida village of Oriska in August, 1777.
This story will delve into Mohawk-Oneida tensions and the outbreak of hostilities between the tribes of the Six Nations, set against the backdrop of the ongoing American Revolution. Players will be able to explore of multiple sides of the conflict, the nuances of the larger Saratoga campaign, and effects that the warring Continental and British forces had on the Haudenosaunee people.
Ideal candidates will have:
An extensive knowledge of Haudenosaunee language, culture, and history OR knowledge of other woodland tribes of the northeast
A history or anthropology degree, involvement with a historical or cultural organization, or other subject matter expertise of this historical moment
These criteria are not necessary requirements to apply.
This position asks for a part-time commitment of 5-10 or more hours per week for 3 months, with the aim of producing ~10,000 words for a chapter in our upcoming publication. We are offering a rate of $25 per hour. The candidate will be assisted by our Researcher who will provide historical background, character biographies, and some narrative guidelines, as well as other game designers at Flagbearer Games.
